Internal Medicine 3: cardiology, diabetology, angiology

The Cardiology department at Klinikum Mutterhaus  has been recently established to provide patients with a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic options. The department is headed by Dr. Frank Schmidt and offers services ranging from non-invasive testing e.g. with stress-echocardiography to  coronary angiography and transcatheter interventions. A state-of-the art angiography suite (“cath lab”) with multiple diagnostic options like pressure wire (FFR), intravascular imaging (OCT) and 3D-echocardiography is available. In close cooperation with numerous other specialties like radiology, nuclear medicine or vascular surgery, we are able to provide comprehensive care on-site. For special or rare cases there is close collaberation with specialized centers and university hospitals.

Our services include:

  • Echocardiography (TOE, TTE, Stress-echo)
  • ECG (holter, exercise)
  • Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET)
  • Nuclear cardiology (scintigraphy, MIBI-Scan)
  • Cardiac-CT-Angiography
  • Coronary Angiography
  • Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI)
  • Cardiac Device therapy (pacemakers, defibrillators, CRT, implantable loop Recorders)

Ambulatory patients are seen at the cardiology clinic and those in need of hospital care will be admitted to either the cardiology ward or the intermediate care unit for monitoring.
