Radiology is more than x-rays. The specialty areas of the department include among others the treatment of acute circulatory disorders. Within the framework of the interdisciplinary Vascular Center, together with the Departments of Internal Medicine and Vascular Surgery, catheters are used for reopening blood vessels using procedures such as balloon dilatation for constricted vessels or the medical re-opening of clogged vessels.
Radiology is also an important part of the certified Breast Center which is dedicated to the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of breast disorders, especially breast cancer.
The Mammography Screening Center Trier is located in the Klinikum Mutterhaus. Within the framework of the German Mammography Screening Program approximately 46,000 women age 50-69 years are examined with certified high standard screening mammography in the Trier region.
